Bay Area Networking Events: Angie Capri Photography Anniversary Party Highlights: Part 1

We would love to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to our wonderful team of sponsors, helpers and guests who contributed their time and talents to make our anniversary party an absolutely wonderful, fun and beautiful event. There is no way we could have accomplished all of this without all of you!

Oh. Check out those gorgeous florals that I got to take home and continue enjoying all week looooong, gazing over at them every second of the day… (I’m not joking) And my boho flower crown!?! (I never wanted to take it off!)

That beautiful signage and calligraphy (with my personal motto “be happy”) sprinkled everywhere, and our super duper adorable new tote bags – the ladies just couldn’t get enough of and I’m totally obsessed with.

That gorgeous up-lighting, plus our super rad art installation combining the rusty old mattress spring (found on the side of the road – oh yeah) and Edison light bulbs, completely transforming the mood and ambiance of our studio.

Then came those dangerous (prepare yourself) salted ganache toffee maroons, raspberry rose lychee panna cotta dessert cups, orange blossom dark chocolates, lemon flower white chocolates, peach and strawberry lemonade cotton candy. Are you serous? Yes, why yes I am. (It was very challenging to keep my mitts off of them… and I’d say the same goes for everyone else).

More event, detail design and DIY descriptions from our team continues below…

“We were so excited to be a part of Angie Capri’s two year anniversary party and networking event. We knew from the start that we wanted to do something as fun as Angie is herself and maintain the rustic and eclectic feel of her industrial studio space that she had already transformed.

We started with some awesome furniture from Angie’s own collection, including DIY reclaimed wood tables sourced from pallets and a collection of vibrant vintage chairs. We combined these pieces with additional furniture sourced from Pleasanton Rentals.

The rustic vibe ran throughout the floral arrangements and bouquets as well where we choose to showcase them using a variety of mason jars, vintage bottles and a variety of patterned ribbon. Coral gem peonies and garden roses were complimented by ranunculus, dahlias, and thistle, as well as seasonal fillers.

As guests arrived they were greeted by A Quaint Soiree who hand wrote guests’ names on name tags. This small detail makes a huge impact on the way guests begin their evening at your event because they’ve already experience a personal touch making them feel welcome from the very start.

Next, our guests were greeted by a gorgeous beverage station; a variety of infused waters (lemon, strawberry and cucumber) and mason jar glasses set atop a vintage dresser. These infused waters are super easy to make and they create a beautiful and refreshing design element that everyone enjoyed on that hot summer afternoon.

We created a unique art installation by hanging a collection of vintage frames from two trees that formed another focal point and fun photo op for our guests. These sorts of creative backdrops are such a great idea because you want to give guests at your networking event as many opportunities as possible to take photos that they’re excited to share on social media, which helps promote your event and show the world how much fun everyone is having!

We utilized the indoor studio space for food and desserts where guests could relax, network and explore Angie’s fine art albums and wall art. This is also the location where we choose to showcase the rusty old mattress spring Angie found on the side of the road which she then partnered with 3 Stage Lighting to create a super exciting and unique fine art installment highlighting this trash to treasure find with gorgeous Edison lights.” – Angie Capri Photography, Kelly Elissa Events and Enchantment Floral

“Break the ice with lighting! An eye catching lighting display doesn’t just provide light for your event space, but also acts as a conversation catalyst for your guests looking to break the ice to begin networking. Edison bulbs are a great element to add to your networking event with their unique filament patterns and nostalgic feel. Color Tip: pair your Edison display with a cool tone accent to balance out the warm tones emitted from the bulbs.” – 3 Stage Lighting

San Francisco Bay Area Creative Lifestyle and Maternity Photographer | Martinez and Port Costa, CA

“My husband and I were referred to Angie Capri by our close friends, who were big fans of her work and highly recommended her (“… not just from her photography style but also for her great personality too!”), for our maternity photos.

I am predisposed to premature labor so collaborating with someone who is easy to work with and who also creates a warm, welcoming and friendly experience was very important to us. Documenting this pregnancy in a really beautiful way was really exciting for us after so many years of heart break.

Angie answered every question with great suggestions every step of the way (yes, even setting my frustrations at ease while wardrobe shopping for my ever transforming body), which made me feel very comfortable with her before we ever even met! Then we enjoyed a super comprehensive in-person consultation with her and began brainstorming for our very creative and meaningful maternity session in Martinez and Port Costa in the East Bay.

Angie choose great locations, helped us pull together the best and most flattering outfits for photos with my sister (we were simultaneously pregnant, how exciting!!! What are the odds??) and with my hubby, and was extremely thorough every step of the way! She was so easy and fun to work with (even my husband – who’s more serious than us gals – had a lot of fun and she got some really great expressions out of him too!).

We highly highly recommend hiring Angie as your professional photographer – we feel so confident you will be very happy that you did. I will definitely be calling Angie in the future for our family photos and maybe a boudoir session (once I get back into shape!)” – Andrea

“As a wedding planner I work with many photographers, but when it came to taking my maternity photos I knew Angie was the photographer who would capture the look I was aiming for. Though I had concerns about the weather the day before, Angie assured me that regardless of the weather she would capture beautiful pictures… The day of our shoot it was chilly and cloudy, but sure enough the photos turned out incredible and now I wouldn’t change anything. Angie is not only professional at what she does, but her hard work reflects in her photography. I’m so happy she was our photographer, we’re in love with the photos!!! Oh… and not to mention, she scouted out the PERFECT location… It was EXACTLY what I wanted… She’s good!” – Cristina

Same-Sex Friendly Businesses | Bakery Refuses to Make Anti-Gay Cakes

I am an entrepreneur. I am an artist. I am an activist. When all three aspects of who I am come into alignment, I cannot express how happy and authentic I feel and I am willing to fight for each piece of my puzzle…

I am so proud to work with clients who share some if not all of these characteristics and those who are willing and ready to stand up for what they believe in, for what is fair for all humans and to support other small businesses who are doing the same!

Our Colorado wedding clients’ ordered their very own wedding cake from Azucar Bakery in Denver, Colorado, the bakery who just won the right to refuse to make anti-gay cakes. This news video describing the story showcases their very own wedding cake and we are here and thrilled to support and promote other same-sex friendly businesses!

It is absolutely shocking that in 2015 (and yes, even in the San Francisco Bay Area) there remains numerous business owners who choose to discriminate against same-sex couples, and for no legitimate reason AT ALL. The relentless challenges they face when trying to plan their wedding day that is supposed to be all about celebrating your love for one another can sometimes be heartbreaking instead, but this is avoidable.

We are actively creating a same-sex friendly list of wedding professionals and we are very happy to refer our same-sex couples to those who will make their wedding planning experience easy, enjoyable, authentic and beautiful.

And as if there weren’t enough icing on this cake already, how fitting is it that our clients choose to write “love always wins” on the mailbox of their very personalized (and very awesome) dinosaur cake topper, even before knowing what additional meanings this cake would soon take on all thanks to this awesome story!

Colorado Wedding Cake

More on the news story:

“Colorado’s legal battles between religious freedom and gay rights continue to play out in the not-so-sweet arena of bakery cake requests.

…The Colorado Civil Rights Division ruled that Denver’s Azucar Bakery did not discriminate against William Jack, a Christian from Castle Rock, by refusing to make two cakes with anti-gay messages and imagery that he requested last year.

The dispute began March 13, 2014 when Jack went to the bakery and requested two cakes shaped like bibles. He asked that one cake have the image of two groomsmen holding hands in front of a cross with a red “X” over them. He asked that the cake be decorated with the biblical verses, “God hates sin. Psalm 45:7” and “Homosexuality is a detestable sin. Leviticus 18:22”, according to the Civil Rights Divisions’ decision.

Marjorie Silva, the owner of the bakery, told Jack that she would make him the bible-shaped cakes, but would not decorate them with the biblical verses and the image of the groomsmen that he requested. Instead, she offered to provide him with icing and a pastry bag so he could write or draw whatever messages he wished on the cakes.

Silva told the civil rights agency that she also told Jack her bakery “does not discriminate” and “accept[s] all humans.”

Dinosaur Inspired DIY Wedding for the Offbeat Bride – Colorado Wedding Photographer

“How I first met Angie Capri –

I am an attorney and a feminist; so finding the right photographer for my professional head shots was a tricky proposition and how I first sought out and found Angie Capri. I didn’t want to look like a robot placed in front of rows of law books, and I didn’t want to look like a liar Barbie, all done up beyond what I actually look like.

I wanted to look beautiful (of course) but strong and feminine too and in a truthful way. That’s what Angie Capri delivered. The process was cathartic; coming to terms with your own grace under Angie’s bright, vixenish, artist’s eye is an amazing experience every woman should have. Worth every penny; I will definitely be back for a boudoir session!

Fast forward –

Then I decided to hire Angie Capri again to photograph my fiance and I’s ugly DIY holiday sweater engagement session and then again to document our wedding in Colorado!!

Having been a participant in numerous weddings, I knew what I didn’t want: hours of exhausting, over-wrought, prescripted photos that look like the generics you find when you purchase a photo frame. What I wanted was a visual story-teller; but that was very difficult to impart. It required a professional with an intuitive sense of my motivation who could take the reins and run with it. Angie was fantastic in this capacity.

One of the traits I love most about Angie is her vision. She can “see” the story beneath the surface and coax it out with her camera and verve. She makes you feel loved, loving, loveable. Seen.

After collaborating with Angie on 3 different occasions by now, I feel a lifelong allegiance to her. I can’t imagine anyone else telling the stories of our lives as our family grows.

Angie Capri is unlike any other professional photographer I have encountered; she is set apart by the wisdom of her vision and her vivacious approach to capturing the moments of our lives. Like magic, she distills the moment into a pure, truthful, gorgeous image. Of course, she is also extremely professional and reliable in the execution of her work.” -Apple

Dinosaur Inspired DIY Wedding for the Offbeat Bride – An Interview with our Bride Apple story continues below gallery…

Dinosaur Inspired DIY Wedding for the Offbeat Bride – An Interview with our Bride Apple

Tell us about inspiration behind your wedding day DIY design and where you choose to begin with the whole planning process?

A simple garden wedding designed with family as the focus. This was a homemade wedding and much of the preparation was to allow time for our families to meet, laugh, and bond over food, flowers, and wine before the actual wedding day.

Comfort and function were our primary guides. I wanted everyone to feel beautiful and relaxed so rather than having our bridesmaids spend on onetime wear dresses, they each selected a red dress in the style of her choosing.

We choose calla lilies to represent faith and purity, and red roses to represent love and passion. Both come from the Greek for beauty and love and were later reappropriated by Christianity as emblems of Mother Mary (for whom I have special affinity). The contrast of white on red is particularly striking. Each bouquet was handmade by each bridesmaid during our bouquet tea party the afternoon before our wedding day, so that they each had an opportunity to be creative!

Mailboxes were one of our primary design elements (that’s where we met at our apartment complex – in front of the mailboxes!).

Corinthians I was our primary verse: “Love is patient, love is kind, love always wins.”

What was your favorite part or moment of the day?

After walking down the aisle, kissing my parents, and standing at the altar in the warm bath of loving light emanating from my husband, and watching that warmth turn to panic as he whispered to me “Do you have the vows?”

What are your most meaningful DIY stories?

I decided to honor my adopted parents who are Jewish by building a chuppah.  I delegated the task of decorating the chuppah to my mother and grandmother (who between them have had 6 Jewish weddings). Their product ended up looking like a kissing booth at a macabre carnival for zombies. I stayed up until 4 am redecorating the entire thing the night before the wedding. #worthit

Thoughts on location choice and why did you choose to move from the San Francisco Bay Area to Colorado?

The cost of living is 36% less in Centennial, Colorado than in the Bay Area, schools are 6 and 10 in the nation, Centennial is the 11th safest city in America, we have 4 grandparents less than 5 minutes away; it would have been unfair to our daughter not to build our life here.

And Colorado is one of the few states that does not require an officiant, so we married ourselves which was much more meaningful for us than using a liaison.

What are your do’s and don’ts for couples planning their own weddings?

Don’t listen to anyone; do listen to each other; know that in the end, all the small stuff is utterly inconsequential; be generous of spirit, especially when you really don’t want to be; remember, love always wins.

Ok, we’re all dying to know, tell us why dinosaurs are so important to you?

Well, they’re DINOSAURS! They are just the coolest animals that have ever lived on this planet (including homo sapiens sapiens). And, for me, it is a reminder that nothing lasts forever, and life is full of 10,000 joys and 10,000 sorrows, so where do I want to put my energy, and what do I want to create in this world?

When Spencer walked into my apartment for the first time, I told him to excuse all of the dinosaur figurines. But as soon as he spotted them he gasped and later told me that was another one of the defining moments when he knew he had met his match.

The park where we held our wedding ceremony also had huge dinosaur play structures, that in addition to all of the other important qualities helped us choose our home right next door.

Tell me about your wedding rings?

Our jeweler is a second generation craftsman, his name is John Molberg. He was able to craft EXACTLY what we wanted, bands made of Colorado gold, mine was designed to embrace my engagement ring, he did it on a reasonable budget and a tight time frame. This is a great option for those with unique engagement rings that are difficult to match to a band.

Names of your adorable and so elegantly dressed doggies?

Bella and Rio (short for Moxie Rioja Chola Merengue)

The team: Bakery: Azucar Bakery http://www.azucarbakery.com/ // Wedding venue: Little Dry Creek Park, Centennial, Colorado // Reception venue: Wingate Hotel, Colorado

We are super pumped to be partnering with La Gartier, a wedding accessories company that has dressed stars from Kandi Burruss to Katherine Webb, to offer one lucky reader a luxurious wedding garter! If you’ve been looking for your wedding day garter, then you don’t want to miss this! The “Vienna” garter retails at $215 and is La Gartier’s most coveted and luxurious design to date.

We had a chance to interview the owner, Sarah Dobson and we are pumped to share this whimsical boudoir shoot featuring the Vienna garter from Angie Capri Photography. The shoot was photographed with the most amazing light in an olive orchard in Livermore, California. Peep the floral crown! So sweet.” – Munaluchi Bride

Our latest photoshoot gives us chills! It takes place outdoors in an olive orchard in Livermore, California. It’s glowing in the most incredible sunlight – that’s a no brainer, cause it’s shot at sunset! An empowering and magical boudoir shoot filled with romance, radiating natural beauty.

The color palette is inspired by berries (raspberries, blackberries and blueberries). Our magnificent flower crown and bouquet include purple artichokes, chocolate cosmos, begonia, olive branches, roses and privet berry.

“There’s nothing I like more than opening up my inbox to find some amazing inspiration, and when I saw this session by the fabulous Angie Capri, there was a lot of oohing going on. Angie always shoots beautiful boudoir, but she really takes it up to a whole ‘nother level here, with an absolutely gorgeous palette, original concept, and spectacular images which serve to inspire not just visually, but in bringing confidence to brides to be. I also love how it’s sexy, but very tasteful – if the idea of posing in your undies isn’t for you, it just shows that a boudoir session can be as covered up as you want it to be without losing any of the spark! That’s why, alongside a bath lined with sequins (which let’s be honest, I want to basically live in now), my favorite detail is the mirror calligraphed with the words: ‘Confidence is the most beautiful accessory’. Spot on. That’s exactly true!” – Southbound Bride

Southbound Bride Spanish Inspired Boudoir Feature

We wanted to create a romantic Spanish inspired holiday boudoir shoot complete with yummy desserts and drinks in a fun rustic ranch setting full of character and confidence! The house seen in the video is over 100 years old, it was transported to what is now known as Gerlach Ranch in Martinez, California. The cast iron bathtub is the original tub from the home which was removed due to renovations years ago and discarded outside. When I discovered it, it was full of debris and garbage – not to mention home to lots of bugs! We cleaned it out, gave it new life and it served as the focal point for this boudoir shoot – I mean how gorgeous is it now draped in sparkly gold sequins, with a beautiful woman to boot? Can’t get much better than that! It’s old rustic charm adds much of the character we were looking for.

Another one of my favorite pieces from the shoot, is the vintage mirror with hand written calligraphy that reads, “Confidence is the most beautiful accessory” because this idea is what I believe every woman should subscribe to in order to feel as authentically beautiful and whole as she is meant to feel. I hope to inspire more women to feel that way through our boudoir shoots :)

This gorgeous tablescape is making us melt. Complete DIY details and description from Kelly (our event coordinator and stylist) and Elizabeth (our florist and stylist) continues below…

“Our tablescape vignette is inspired by a color palette of peach, coral and gold. We wanted to blend aspects of modern, geometric design with vintage rustic pieces and lush floral accents. Since we stuck with a clean design this eclectic mix of aesthetics and decor was complimentary rather than competitive and distracting.

The tablescape is the center of our design. We begin with a simple white dotted linen to showcase the color palette, especially the gold details. The table settings arranged in a diamond shape incorporate the geometric theme by using a round gold rimmed charger and base plate and a square salad plate. The table settings are topped with a peach and DIY name cards, also cut in a variety of geometric shapes. The natural farm chairs add a rustic touch to the entire vignette.

The centerpiece is an area that gave us a great opportunity to showcase the modern geometric aspect. We started with a green garland base along the center of the table, we topped it with gold geometric terrarium vases from Anthropologie. The vases were filled with additional greenery, garden roses, anemones, and ranunculus. The design was finished off with some scattered gold succulents and a collection of modern candle holders from CB2.

The antique dresser and cart, provided by Hunt & Gather Rentals, were used to showcase the gorgeous ivory and gold 3 tiered cake and peach tea beverage with DIY gold glitter spray painted mason jars. Our friend at Harlow’s House contributed  a diverse variety of decor and DIY accessories that added a beautiful variety and pops of color throughout our design, including the custom tassel garlands accenting the beverage cart and backdrop. The embroidery hoops served as additional decor, and were adorned with floral garland, as well as the handmade the “Mr.” and “Mrs.” chair banners.

Our backdrop was a simple pipe and drape set up that we decorated with lush floral garland of greenery and garden roses, and the tassel garland by Harlow’s House. The final touch was a hanging chandelier we DIY’d using a modern lampshade, adorned with a floral garland and suspended above the vignette to add the final touch we were looking for.” – Kelly Elissa Events and Enchantment Floral

Storyboard Wedding Geometric Vintage Rustic Tablescape

“Somewhere along the line someone decided that you couldn’t be modern AND vintage, geometrically inclined while being soft & romantic, together at the same time.  There has been this unspoken design rule floating around for ages that has blindly been followed with the essence to stay in your own lane when it comes to a theme. What I love so incredibly much about today’s feature is how a California crew of incredibly talented wedding vendors decided to smash that notion to smithereens!

With a geometric wedding back bone base, event coordinator, stylist & florists Kelly Elissa Events & Enchantment Floral utilized charming vintage minded details from Hunt and Gather Rentals to add another level of dimension to their geometric wedding crafting a unique rustic vintage geometric wedding style. When crisscrossing different genre’s of style, there is one true rule that should always be followed, keep it clean, keep it simple & keep it light. In order to seamlessly blend contrasting design types complimentary elements is the name of the game.

There is a lot to crush on here, but I must admit my favorite pieces are those with organic detailing. Gorgeous Anthropologie geometric terrariums line the table filled with mossy greens, garden roses, anemones & ranunculus all while running down the center of table with a garland base. Up above a modern lampshade is hung & draped with billowy greens to give the perfect essence of romance & whimsy, softening up the sharp geometric feel.

The final pieces come in the form of place settings that echo geometric design while vintage furniture pieces serve as the display for the dreamy 2 tier cake from Is my Crazy Showing & gold sparkle filled beverage area.  It should come as no surprise that each moment is beautifully captured by California wedding photographer Angie Capri Photography, the very same that brought our stunning pink sequin sweetheart table to life just a few short weeks ago.

If you are even slightly toying with any of these wedding styles, I implore you to take this mix of styles to heart, one is great but two is better!” – Storyboard Wedding

I’m so in love with this boudoir photoshoot it’s ridiculous! We incorporated colorful fruits, uniquely shaped coral, sea shells, a simple bouquet, an acoustic guitar and ukulele to maintain as authentic to our location as possible.

I enjoy photographing boudoir because it allows me to inspire women to feel more confident and feel awesome about their bodies. Representing her in classy, creative and unique ways are my top priorities so that her personality shines!

I believe every woman should experience a boudoir session because it’s all about building your confidence, feeling beautiful, sexy, and loving your body. It can be as revealing or as implied as you feel comfortable with too, you don’t have to be in lingerie!

I encourage women to enjoy a shoot for themselves without any special occasion. You don’t need a specific reason to feel great about yourself – feeling worth it and celebrating yourself should be an everyday experience!

Bay Area Wedding Design and Inspiration For Today’s Bride

We’re basking is the beauty of this adorable sweetheart table today. Complete DIY details and description from Erin our stylist continues below…

“This sweetheart table was inspired by elegance with a bit of whimsy and glamour designed for Kinsley James Couture Bridal’s window display and so beautifully captured by the lovely Angie Capri.

I was definitely inspired by glitter which led to the DIY ombre glitter runner I made myself, it began with dusty pink glitter on one end and elegantly evolved into gold glitter at the other end. I started with a simple textured burlap runner, sprayed it in sections with adhesive glue and sprinkled on the glitter.

The mini pink moscato bottles were also DIY items sprayed with adhesive glue and dunked in glitter, a festive decor element or fun favor for a shower or wedding.

We absolutely loved the way the little DIY glitter favor bags turned out as well and the “husband” and “wife” tags by Pigment and Parchment which were the perfect compliment. I used standard craft paper treat bags that I purchased at Paper Source. I sprayed them half way up the bag with adhesive glue (yes, it was an adhesive glue spraying kind of afternoon :)) and applied coarse glitter and sealed them with a little clothes pin.

My dear friend Kellyne with Hand and Heart Event Design made the adorable little tissue garland to compliment the table.  Another item you can customize with various colors for birthdays, showers, and celebrations of all types!

The pinwheels on the chairs were another cute whimsical detail, some were purchased as is and some were created from gorgeous fine handmade paper all discovered at Paper Source (a favorite shopping spot of ours).

The floral arrangement by the talented Darwin at Florali was the perfect arrangement for our brushed metal urn… Those dripping ranunculus and curiously cute pink anemones were eye candy galore!

We combined various shades of pinks, patterns and gold details throughout the rest of the table.  It was a sweet collaboration full of whimsical, glamorous and rustic details.” – Your Event by Erin

Bay Area Boudoir Photography with the Enthusiastic and Bubbly Photographer | The Lighthouse, Vallejo, CA

“Working in the wedding industry, I came to know Angie through networking events and began following her work on social media. I was continually impressed with her work and thought it would be fun to do a boudoir shoot for my husband as a Valentine’s day gift.

From the moment I reached out to Angie, she was extremely responsive, detailed, and organized in putting the shoot together. Her email correspondence included an abundance of helpful information, FAQs, helpful tips, and things to think about before our consultation; which all made the consultation more efficient.

When it came down to the day of the shoot, Angie was prompt, and of course, provided me with great timeline for the day and even considered the fact that I would need to take a break to rest, eat, and stay hydrated.  She was very professional, fun, and bubbly as always. She made what could easily be an uncomfortable or vulnerable situation a very easy and comfortable one. Her enthusiasm is contagious which also assisted in easing any nerves I had that day. She was great at posing me in flattering ways and also helping me to perfect the perfect “relaxed face”.

I left the shoot feeling very confident that the photos would be perfect…and they were! When it came time for the reveal, it was so nice to be able to sit down and view all the images as well as the draft album she had put together. She was very thoughtful in the composition of each shot and in the photos that she selected for the album. Once we had gone through everything, she gave me time to look through it all again and see if I would like to switch any of the images she had chosen for the book. I actually thought it was perfect the way she did it, and didn’t request any changes.

I received my digital images shortly after our reveal meeting, and the album just a couple of weeks later. I was so excited that I gave them to my husband a week before Valentines Day and he absolutely loved them. It is something that we can both cherish, and I am so glad that I decided to go through with this process!

Thank you Angie!!!” -Liz

Re-Discovering Yourself at Age 40 | East Bay Boudoir Photographer | Elliston Vineyards, Sunol, CA

“My husband wanted to give me a gift for my 40th birthday that would be memorable, a portrait to celebrate this special occasion. I have a lot of experience working with other photographers for a variety of occasions and I have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly – so I was very specific on the type of photography style, personality and professionalism that would match my standards and Angie was a winner from the beginning!!

While he thought I was only searching for someone who shot creative lifestyle photos for women, I was also searching for a female photographer who shot classy boudoir photography as well – to really knock his socks off!

I met with Angie for a consultation and we immediately hit it off, we choose to shoot at the same location I’d be hosting my 40th birthday party, Elliston Vineyards in Sunol, CA and I was stoked! (continues below gallery…)

I really valued the artistic advise and tips Angie provided during the consultation and the photo shoot, all of which made me feel more comfortable in front of the camera. After working with Angie, I felt more confident than ever before and believed that I am beautiful despite my age and should be proud of myself and what I have achieved throughout the years.

She presented a variety of flexible and creative options while choosing which images to print in my album and as a fine art canvas – both pieces of art were a surprise to my husband. It was so exciting to give them to him that I actually video recorded his reaction when he opened the boudoir album for the first time – it’s totally priceless!! Originally, I wasn’t sure where I’d hang the canvas, but as soon as he saw it, he quickly made space for it in our master bedroom and gawks at it every day!!

One of the things that I loved most about the shoot, were the selection of the places within the vineyard and at the mansion that Angie discovered that I never would have thought would be such beautiful locations for pictures. Some of these photos and compositions created a Parisian look while in others I became a fairy in the woods – it was really awesome and REALLY fun!!

I will tell everybody who’s considering hiring Angie that the photo shoot is not just capturing yourself at that moment in your life, but an experience of re-discovering yourself as a person and how you value yourself. I promise you that the investment is worth it and the experience cannot be exchanged by any other generic gift you can give to yourself or to your loved one.” – Vanessa

Adorable Ugly Christmas Sweaters | East Bay Engagement Photographer

Although spring is in full swing here in California, I’m excited to show off these adorable ugly Christmas sweaters (and for good reason, wait for it….)… These two lovebirds have the most awesome love story and I’ve been honored to be there every step of the way to share it with them and document everything!! I first met Apple when she reached out to me to create feminine, authentic and unique professional lifestyle business photos, back in August. When she arrived for her session she swooned and plopped down on a chair and after lots of questions I soon discovered, she met the man of her dreams! (Story continues below… gotta appreciate the added suspense. You’re welcome!)

Two months later (October) she called me to take holiday photos with her honey bunch and I got to meet this awesome dude named Spencer! The two of them were absolutely adorable and hilarious together, I could see the obvious connection…

Just when we began and as I was adjusting the bottom of her sweater, Apple asked, “do you know what’s inside of my tummy?” I responded with, “A ginger bread cookie?” (… which seemed only natural given their fabulous sweaters! But obvi, I was wrong…) Apple responded, “No, there’s a baby inside there…” I could barely contain myself with so many questions but no time since it was just about to get dark… Once we got back to the studio I inquired thoroughly, this was an incredible moment! These photos would not only serve as their holiday cards, they’d also serve as their baby announcements!!

Next, they visited Paris on New Years (January) where Spencer proposed, they got engaged and shortly after I received an invitation to their baby shower/going away party (January). Spencer is from Colorado so they decided to move to Colorado to start their family which would occur about 2 weeks later (February).

Which brings me to the exciting adventure that’s next on my agenda – photographing their intimate wedding this weekend in Colorado (April) when Apple is just about 8 months pregnant! Can you believe this girl has basically planned her entire wedding in just a few short months and let me tell you, I’m impressed already cause this girl is or-gan-ized (and a badass, duh!) The schedule is also packed with lots of interactive games so their families can really get to know one another, not to mention so much meaning packed into every last detail.

I can’t wait to share, stay tuned as their story continues to unfold (and please send the girl some love and energy for her amazing day!)

CONGRATULATIONS APPLE & SPENCER!!

We wanted to create a romantic Spanish inspired holiday boudoir photoshoot with yummy desserts and drinks in a fun rustic ranch setting full of character and confidence! The house seen in the video is over 100 years old, it was transported to what is now known as Gerlach Ranch in Martinez, California just outside of San Francisco where the vineyards and barn later took shape. The cast iron bathtub is the original tub from the home which was removed due to renovations years ago and discarded outside. When I discovered it, it was full of debris and garbage – not to mention home to lots of bugs! We cleaned it out and gave it new life and it served as the focal point for this boudoir shoot – I mean how gorgeous is it now draped in sparkly gold sequins with a beautiful woman to boot? Can’t get much better than that! It’s old rustic charm adds much of the character we were looking for.

Another one of my favorite pieces from the shoot, is the vintage mirror with hand written calligraphy that reads, “Confidence is the most beautiful accessory” because this idea is what I believe every woman should subscribe to in order to feel as authentically beautiful and whole as she is meant to feel. I hope to inspire more women to feel that way through our boudoir photoshoots.

From the bride:

Thoughts or tips for those currently planning their weddings? Pick your venue first because it will inspire other decisions like colors, flowers, and table settings. Include your future husband in decisions and get his opinion. Hire vendors that you are comfortable with personality wise. If you can, hire a coordinator. Having Melissa took so much stress off the year of planning and especially the big day. It allowed us to relax and enjoy all the work we had put into the day. Take time to absorb what is going on around you. I woke up at 6am and before I knew it, the day was over. Stop every so often and take in your surroundings and smiling faces. They are here for you, to celebrate your special day. And most important, hire a GREAT photographer. Even if you have a limited budget, it’s good to spend some extra dough on hiring a photographer who you are comfortable with, that fits your personalities, and delivers incredible outcomes. You will be so happy you did.

Other advise, don’t stress… you are supposed to be happy and smiling (maybe some happy tears) but don’t let the immensity of the day get to you. Even if little things go wrong, no one but you will notice it so don’t stress. I knocked over one of the lanterns on the isle when I was walking down, it made a huge noise and all I could do was laugh because if that was the worst thing to happen, it was all good. What matters is that you are marrying the love of your life in front of your friends and family and as long as that happens, nothing else matters. Plus the stuff that can and may go wrong usually ends up being a great funny story or some really funny pictures ;)

Same Sex Wedding Story Turns Real Marriage Proposal and Elopement – Part 2

Finding a real couple and what happened next:

Once I knew we were creating a same sex themed wedding, I immediately began searching for all of the perfect contributors. Once I got everyone on board, next I had to find the perfect same sex female couple who was open and willing to be a part of this very special project, and who of course would trust me and my vision. It definitely needed to be a real couple because I wanted their “first kiss” to be a real one in this styled shoot. It proved to be a bit more challenging than originally anticipated and I was super excited when I was introduced to Kylie & Andrea by a colleague.

Fast forward…. Just one week before the shoot Andrea asked if I would mind if she actually proposed to Kylie during the photoshoot and without hesitation I said, “hell no I wouldn’t mind!! I secretly wished for something like this!” We were so excited and emotional, of course neither of us got much sleep that night. To top THAT off, she had no idea our florist (who was already collaborating on our project) is also an officiant!! I mean could the stars alight any perfectly? I think not!!

The big day:

As usual I stalk the weather forecast and since it’s usually wrong it’s seldom that I decide to reschedule. This photoshoot especially had so many moving parts and a huge team, it had already been rescheduled once before so it was going to happen no matter what, rain or shine. Despite the 90% chance of rain and running inside after two downpours, we shot every second we had throughout the entire day. We checked everything off the photoshoot list first, saving the best part for last to allow Kylie and Andrea to enjoy and focus on their special moment without getting back into photoshoot mode – all before sunset as well – it was crazy to say the least but you’d never know it looking through the photos and final video (whoo hoo!!) Just when Kylie thought she was done for the day I shouted out a code phrase to the team which happened randomly but very perfectly, “Oh no, we forgot to take pictures with our officiant!!”

Everyone scurried with their secret intentions. Andrea had someone play their favorite song, she approached Kylie, they danced as Andrea whispered to her, she got down on one knee and asked. Kylie said yes!! They got married right on the spot. It was so emotional. We were all crying. I’m sure it’s all still sinking in for the girls. None of us will ever forget this amazing day!

The obvious connection and love Kylie and Andrea feel for one another is breathtaking, they are most definitely the perfect pair to help express the underlying theme of this entire project as it started, and finished with the biggest bang any of us could have ever imagined or anticipated. They are so incredibly happy to have found one another and Andy told me, “we have never been more sure of anything in their lives”. In reaction to her surprise proposal and on-the-spot elopement Kylie said, “I had no clue, first and foremost. It was the best and most amazing thing I have ever experienced. It was so unexpected. It was honestly like a fairytale. The best thing I ever could have imagined happening to me.”

Congratulations Andrea & Kylie!!

You may have noticed this is part two (check out part one here – you know you want to!) stay tuned for part three, revealing the much anticipated film that puts it all together!

Same Sex Wedding Story Turns Real Marriage Proposal and Elopement – Part 1

Background:

We have all dealt with the pressures of the media and our families to maintain the traditions that society has upheld, many of which born from thoughts, ideas and opinions that are outdated, frankly don’t make any sense, and are downright exclusionary and offensive.

We’ve all had to deal with those people who just don’t get it, those people who constantly obsess about beautifying and perfecting their outsides while completely ignoring and neglecting the beauty, authenticity and happiness of their insides.

If you ask me, they’ve got it all wrong! All of these things have led me to the career and path I have chosen. I specialize in authentic and radiant lifestyle and boudoir photography for women so that they can finally see themselves in a new light and love who they are from the inside out. I also photograph weddings and beginning with this as my first, I’d be honored to continue documenting the honest and authentic love of same sex couples. This entire experience has been eye opening for me.

Even though I consider myself familiar with the inequalities same sex couples face in the world, it wasn’t until I chatted with Jaimee our officiant (who you’ll read more about later), that I learned more about the crazy challenges they face navigating the world of the wedding industry. Being born and raised in the Bay Area, a place I’ve always viewed as one of the most free spirited, diverse and accepting places in the world, same sex couples are still having a hard time finding wedding professionals who are open and willing to be a part of and support same sex love. It’s appalling. It’s ridiculous. It’s disgusting really.

How the concept was born:

Our latest photoshoot began marinating in my brain about a year ago and my team and myself began planning and coordination about 4 months before the big day. The thing that started it all was stumbling across an old fashioned wedding dress from the 80’s that someone set out on the curb as garbage down the street from my house. I had already been on the hunt to create a “trash the dress” photoshoot and when I stumbled upon that wedding gown keepsake box which indeed housed a wedding dress that I could trash, I was really excited! The brainstorming begin…

In my mind, it quickly became a same sex themed wedding shoot telling a very special love story. I decided not to trash the dress after all because that would become distracting to the story which became much more significant. It was about breaking tradition, finding your true love, following your heart, being truly happy and expressing all of these truths that everyone deserves to experience freely.

Setting the scene:

We’d see a bride wearing this dramatic and super traditional 80’s wedding gown as she’s holding hands with a male groom in a traditional black tux. They’re walking towards a traditional white church. She stops, they look at each other and she runs away because she realizes he’s not her true love and leaves her traditional bouquet behind. Instead of following her heart she has been following the traditions her parents have been preaching to her about all of her life. She has been fighting who she really is, what makes her happy and has been denying who she is truly in love with.

We cut to a new location she has ran to where she ditches the white wedding gown. Here she begins preparing for something big. She’s still anonymous by this point, then we witness the first look where she meets her true love who is a woman, they are both revealed and she’s now wearing a black dress. She’s holding a voluptuous wild and free bouquet that later breaks apart into two separate bouquets representing giving her partner a piece of herself. They get eloped. They follow their hearts, discover and honor what and who truly makes them happy, they break tradition and show the world that’s it’s ok, they represent being truly free and are an example for us all as we all can relate to these themes in some way.

It’s such an incredible love story in which I’m sure many same sex couples (or even heterosexual couples and individuals of any sort for that matter) can relate to. My goal is simply to share this story with the world, to create impact in someone’s life, to give someone hope, to make someone smile, to change someone’s world, to help someone live an authentic life, to honor those who have been through so much and to share a story that has the potential to touch so many in some way, these intentions are endless and I hope that you can help me share this story.

Now, you may have noticed this is only part one, which means there’s much more to come! Including the much anticipated reveal of Andy & Kylie’s wedding proposal and elopement, plus the film that puts it all together!

“I’m super excited to have worked with Angie Capri. Her boudoir and wedding photography caught my attention because she has a very unique style that’s rare and hard to find. Her boudoir photos are classy, sexy, elegant and filled with magical light. They are bright, beautiful and inspiring. After getting to know Angie on quite an intimate level, I can tell you first hand that I truly believe in her work, her passion and her love for people and photography. Angie is a great person who has tons of talent and a heart of gold. I felt like I was with my best friend taking pictures, not a photographer that I just met. She’s fun and welcoming and knows how to make ya smile! : )

I know a very successful and happy future is in store for Angie and her photography business. I think every woman should experience a boudoir shoot and have a book of photos of themselves to look back on. If you’re looking for someone to take amazing pictures of your most memorable occasions, Angie is your girl! Love her!

Thanks for everything Angie! Best of luck to you in the New Year!” – Shelly

The inspiration behind the shoot: A romantic, feminine, and empowering bridal boudoir shoot, inspired by an adorable and fun tea party theme! We included romantic jewelry, sparkly accessories, bubbly, and lots of other pretty things! Some of my favorite pieces are the free-spirited, wild and free flowers including the bouquet, flower crown and ankle lei’s, inspired by Hawaiian tradition. And how inspiring is the gorgeous handwritten quote on the chalkboard, “the beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes,” let that be a lesson to you ladies ;)

Photographer’s Mock Same Sex Wedding Shoot Turns Surprise Marriage Proposal and Elopement

“It’s been a while since I featured a boudoir session, but I couldn’t help squeezing one into the schedule when I saw the fun 1940’s pinup style that photographer Angie Capri and her bride-to-be, Rachel, put together for this shoot! For me, it’s the perfect example of how a boudoir session doesn’t have to be nudey to be sexy (in fact, Rachel was pretty much covered up throughout), and best of all, how much fun and confidence boosting it can be! Rachel looks like she’s having an absolute ball in these pics, and looking amazing while she does it. Be sure to read her account of the day too, because it really reflects what the boudoir experience should be all about. So what are you waiting for, ladies?” – Southbound Bride

Transformational Lifestyle Photographer | When Dream Wedding is Called Off | Sutro Baths, San Francisco

Christine’s story…

“I first met Angie over 2 years ago when she was hired (by my best girlfriend and then boyfriend) to take pictures of my surprise wedding proposal and engagement in San Francisco, and we quickly had her on board as our wedding photographer as well. However, the engagement was called off after a few months because my fiancé and I came to realize we simply were not the right fit after all.

I had been a part of a pair for so long that when we split, I made it my goal to find myself again. I took on a complete Y.O.L.O (“you only live once”) attitude and did anything and everything that I always wanted to do! I realized I didn’t know true happiness until this moment when I was able to be one with and rediscover myself.

This might sound cheesy, but like a Phoenix, I feel like I rose from the ashes as a better and happier version of me! “Christine 2.0” I call this point in my life. To document this incredible time I thought it would be great to do a creative lifestyle photoshoot so that I may always look back at the photos and remember this fabulous time in my life. I found it fitting to call on Angie Capri to do the shoot since we had become good friends and she was there since the beginning. It was like everything was coming full circle.

In addition, Angie emulates the meaning of women’s empowerment and her whole mission is to capture the beauty and radiance that EVERY woman has in an authentic and honest way. I also wanted to associate Angie with a happy, positive event in my mind rather than thinking of the failure of the past, we celebrated the happy ending that was the product of this entire experience.

This custom lifestyle photoshoot was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! It was a blast and Angie is an absolute dream to work with! It started with a consultation where I blurted out half formulated thoughts and ideas and Angie combined everything and came up with the perfect styling and concept that I wanted and the perfect location, which were the Sutro Baths in San Francisco.

From there, she planned everything! Came up with my color palette and put together my outfits for the shoot, which really took a lot of stress off of me. Most importantly for me during the shoot, I was so nervous but she gave me perfect direction, made me laugh and put me at complete and utter ease. In no time I was sucked in and loving every minute of being in from of the camera. What resulted were the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. I could not be more pleased!

More about the photoshoot and Christine’s fabulous testimonial:

I think what I loved most about the shoot was the symbolism. I feel like the cold broken cement ruins of the Sutro Baths were turned into something fresh and beautiful through photography and use of color. They are very representative of me and this transformation that I’ve been on. Angie also surprised me with a special bouquet of flowers, but it was not a traditional or ordinary bouquet, instead it was wild and free-flowing (more symbolism!) It was a beautiful prop and made the pictures that much more spectacular.

Because this photoshoot was so meaningful, we also decided to film a behind the scenes video / short film which even included running scenes of me (that we shot on a 2nd day) just as I usually like to start my day and clear my head. The entire film really captured and expressed, the whole story of me. Angie choose the song and every time we listen to it, it’s such a powerful combination that it makes us teary-eyed.

A silly detail about a shoot with Angie is that she’s all about the sun flair and when she gets really excited about the photos she’s snapping, she makes very funny noises that just crack me up (and always serve as good entertainment ;)

I would recommend to any woman that they should do a creative lifestyle shoot for themselves. Every woman should be able to create a world that is representative of them down to their core and have it all to remember the truly fabulous person that they are. Just remember that you are beautiful, be yourself and relax, because Angie has your back and will make everything ok!!”

Featured | Nevada Desert Free Spirited Bridal Boudoir Photographer | Festival Brides

“We have a gorgeous bohemian bridal boudoir shoot to share with you today, sent all the way from the Nevada Desert and inspired by the Burning Man Festival (the number 1 festival on my bucket list!).

Put together by Angie Capri Photography and featuring the very beautiful Miss Asian Las Vegas 2014, the aim of the shoot was to mix the free-spirited vibe of burning man with alternative style wedding dresses.

What I love the most about this shoot is Angie’s use of the natural light. The sun bleeds into some of the images creating a soft, sexy and ethereal feel to the shoot. I’m also loving laid back bridal style.” – Festival Brides

“Although I have never been to burning man, I have always been inspired to go and experience it. I’ve heard getting married there is common too – this idea combined with some bridal boudoir is what inspired this adventurous bridal shoot that took place somewhere in the desert in Nevada…

Behind the inspiration: Since nontraditional and two piece wedding dresses are becoming more popular, we paired a white vintage corset with a vintage high waist skirt and brown combat boots. I created a sunflower bouquet to contrast against the white bridal outfit and the muted earth tones of the desert. The red coral and blue turquoise necklace and brown and gold bangles added some nice touches too. Then I thought, a hitchhiking bride with a vintage suitcase would add more quirky fun to this burning man style shoot hehe. To add some movement, she danced around with a white lace curtain. Outfit number two includes a subtle gold jeweled crown and necklace, a black tube bra, a leopard shirt and brown combat boots. Both outfits express lots of bohemian free spirited fashion that we love.” – Angie Capri

“For the makeup, we went with a soft smokey eye with focus on the lashes. My idea was to open up the eyes for that wide-eye, “girl-next-door” look. We chose Motives Cosmetics because I knew I could rely on its awesome pigmentation, long wear, and most importantly, heat resistance. We’re in the desert after all in Vegas! The foundation was airbrushed using Temptu S/B formula. For the hair, I went with pin curls using the Hot Tools marcel iron and Nume hair wand. I wanted the natural sexy waves to look effortless but still have an impact while lasting all day. We primed with Big Sexy Hair “Play Dirty” and sealed with “Spray and Play.” – The Makeup Movement

Inspired by Personal Transformation and Weight Loss | East Bay Boudoir Photographer

Liz’s story…

My name is Liz. I am 33 years old, and 5’8. I may be “model tall” but I have never been “model thin” my lowest weight as a high school student was 150 pounds. But back in 2000 I weighed 296 pounds! This was my heaviest. I gained a lot of weight during the pregnancy with my first child. Now, I accepted a long time ago I would NEVER look like one of the beautiful, tall and ever so slender models in the magazines or on billboards. At least not size wise. As a young girl seeing all of these women being praised and called beautiful because of their size was hard. Especially when you knew you looked nothing like these women. I had low self esteem all throughout grade school and high school, although I did my best not to let that show through in my attitude or way of life.

Fast forward to 2006, I have two children now a 6 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. I was having marital problems, was very depressed and started to feel bad for myself.  One day I just decided that I was going to make a commitment to my children and to myself. I was going to start living healthy. I was not going to be this big any longer nor ever again. So my journey began. I joined a gym, I changed my eating habits, I tried a bunch of gimmicky diets, weight loss pills etc. Those quick fixes got me started but never lasted.  When my divorce was final I had weekends where the kids would be with dad so I worked out a lot and started losing weight the right way.

I work for John Muir Health and as an employee we have programs available to us that will help with different issues people face in their daily lives to help cope with weight, stress, smoking, etc. I decided that I was going to try a few of these programs so I could get healthier not only for me but for my children. I didn’t like being tired and not being able to play with them, or run around soccer fields, baseball fields etc. These programs are offered different ways. Online only programs where you watch a video once a week that offers a different change for you to implement into your daily living.  (small steps work best when drastically changing anything).

There were ones where you have a health coach that calls you every 10 days to do a check in and give they give you different goals to reach for the next 10 days, and then there is the fit club where you track your daily exercise. I try to get 30-60 minutes MINIMUM in of exercise every day. Exercise can be redundant so finding ways to keep it fun is the best way to keep you interested and coming back for more. I joined classes at the gym like body pump, spin classes, Zumba, yoga and just recently I started Pilates. I have found that for me working out with a group is fun and if you have people you can workout with on a regular basis that helps too. They can motivate you when you may have the feeling like you just can’t muster up the energy to work out one day. Writing down your workouts as well as your food consumption (food diary) keeps you honest and helps you track what is working and what you may need to change if you aren’t seeing the results you are looking for.

For me the most important thing about my transformation is to believe and teach my kids especially my daughter that society tends to brainwash people into believing you have to look a certain way or be a certain weight in order to be considered beautiful or be accomplished in life, and that simply is not the case. Making good, healthy food and exercise choices is a must but feeling confident and “Sexy in Her Skin” is all a mentality that you possess and once you have that mind set the world and life’s challenges are just hurdles that you now have momentum to jump over.  Change doesn’t happen overnight. Persistence and commitment are definitely needed in order to make changes that will last a lifetime. Once I got over the fact that I won’t go to bed fat one day and wake up thin the next and learned to have patience in meeting goals I set for myself, weight loss became a whole lot more realistic. Sure there are surgeries that can assist you in losing the weight and I am quite sure I could have qualified for one of those options but I chose to work hard for what I wanted. I was brought up to work for what I wanted because you tend to appreciate the reward or end result more than if something is given to you. I teach my children this same life lesson. Not saying that surgery is an easy way out for some it is the only way out because the situation is much more grave than mine was. But I was still young and able bodied to work for this and so that is the decision I made to do it. Either way it is work, life style changes have to be made, goals have to be set and determination has to be present.

Before
Before

Today I am no longer a smoker, I weigh under 200 pounds and I have tons of energy to exercise, play with the kids, volunteer at their schools and work full time. I have not reached my goal weight still shy by 30 pounds but I love my life, I feel sexy in my skin, and I am so thankful that I am finally in a happy place. I may not be “model thin” but I feel “model beautiful”. I was asked to include photos of me before and then now and I had a hard time finding any photos from when I was big because I simply hated having my photo taken because I hated the way I looked. So the ones I have included are few..

The journey has been long, full of ups and downs and of course plateaus but all in all the journey has been worth it. I have energy, I am able to play with my now 14 and 11 year olds, I am successful in my career and I simply LOVE MY LIFE. I know my story doesn’t have a quick fix answer or a specific plan to follow and I don’t think anyone can really give you that. The plan has to start in you. Tips for success can be inserted along the way but the real plan has to come from within. It is truly a mindset one creates to succeed. My goal for 2015 is to finally reach my “Goal Weight” and then move on. My weight has occupied enough of my life. It’s time for new adventures and goals to be put into action. After all I am so much more than a number on a scale.

More about the photoshoot and Liz’s fabulous testimonial:

First of all, let me just say if I could give Angie Capri Photography 10 Stars I WOULD!!! I first learned about Angie Capri from a girlfriend who was planning her wedding and was in the market for a photographer. She had very specific needs and was looking for a photographer who could travel and handle her rowdy crowd at the wedding. My friend came back to work raving about this photographer she found through a referral. Angie wound up being my friend’s photographer every step of her wedding planning process. Engagement photos (which I immediately fell in love with!!), a sexy boudoir shoot she give her fiance the night before the wedding, and of course the wedding photos! I was not present at the wedding so the anticipation of seeing all of the photos was killing me… When I saw the final images, I was in tears!!! Angie’s arrangement of all the photos she took, told the complete love story of Rachel and Dave, and I knew then that I HAD to have her do a pin up inspired boudoir shoot for me to give my boyfriend for his birthday!!!

The idea I had was a vague one. My boyfriend had mentioned on several occasions that he thought I would look good with my hair and make up done like a pin up girl. I thought I would give him a one-of-a-kind birthday gift that he could cherish forever. That is pretty much all I had lol…  I contacted Angie and told her what I was thinking and she kinda just took off with the idea and put her creative artistic talent to work! She was able to find a location that was very unique for boudoir shoot – I was outside on a ranch that had lovely scenery just outside of San Francisco. She turned an old claw foot tub (which had been left out in the elements for quite some time…) into a great addition. She referred me to an amazing hair and make up artist (Annie Lam of The Makeup Movement) who captured exactly what I wanted and gave me the perfect pin up look for the shoot. I purchased a few garments, found a few sentimental quotes I wanted included and emailed them to Angie, and basically showed up and she took care of the rest!

I am a very shy individual when it comes to more intimate settings and I have never been one to flaunt my body. I was totally out of my element. Angie made me feel very comfortable and sexy in my skin.  This boudoir shoot was supposed to be a romantic, one-of-a-kind gift for my BOYFRIEND and wound up being exactly that, as well as the most liberating, exotic, life experiences that I have ever had! I am truly thankful for the way the universe brought me to Angie Capri.

The expression on my boyfriend’s face when he opened his high quality, super well made fine art album on his birthday – was priceless. He was so proud of this book that he even took it to work and showed his coworkers and boss! He is in love with it and noticed every detail down to the jewelry I wore. Thank you so much Angie Capri Photography for everything.

Bay Area Engagement Photographer | Glam Punk Rock Halloween Inspired

“I’m wickedly excited to share this engagement shoot we recently cooked up. When this couple came to us, we knew right away that we wanted to create something edgy, glam, punk rock and Halloween inspired. We had so much fun incorporating antique black place settings, pumpkins, skulls, edgy sweet treats, and awesome calligraphy stationary with splashes of gold décor and just the right amount of black and white stripes that any Halloween engagement or wedding should incorporate.

Seeing our wicked love Halloween vision come to life in a way was exciting!! Angie Capri Photography jumped on board to round out my vision and found the perfect location with a bright red barn – the ideal spot for this shoot! We had so much fun playing dress up with this awesome soon to be bride and groom. I just want to do it all over again!!” – Candy Crush Shop

The Best Boudoir Photographer Makes Taking Romantic and Classy Photos Easy + Behind the Scenes Video!

“I’m in love with that girl with the camera, Angie Capri!! I have ALWAYS wanted to do my own boudoir photoshoot but it’s taken me a long time to find just the right photographer with just the right vibe and style. Once I was introduced to her beautiful, classy and unique pictures I knew she was the match for me. Then when I met Angie in person, we developed a great connection right from the start.

Like any other women who’s not a professional model, I was super nervous about stepping in front of a camera and in my skivvies to boot, but Angie set my nerves at ease, she helped me relax, made me laugh and tried lots of ways to capture a variety of expressions and poses that flattered my body. The style and inspiration behind my boudoir shoot was beautiful and everything I could dream of, she’s crazy creative and talented!! The images were romantic, dreamy and feminine.

I know many women can relate to feeling hesitant and being super nervous about diving into their very own boudoir photoshoot, but I know almost every woman out there would love the experience and I’m telling you Angie will ease those fears, you can trust her, feel safe with her, she will make you feel comfortable, confident and beautiful in your skin!! ANGIE. IS. AWESOME!!” – Cessy

“Leslie and Jessie wanted something to represent their Mexican heritage. This styled session was held in Borges Ranch in Walnut Creek, CA. Borges Ranch is an amazing location filled with vibrant colors and historic artifacts. I wanted to create a colorful styled photo shoot inspired by the couples heritage, but we also wanted to add some color, we wanted to represent a true Mexican fiesta. We knew that confetti, sequin, and bright colors were a must. We incorporated a lot of fuchsia, gold, orange, yellow, purple hues to go with the overall theme fiesta theme.

I love to create really fun wedding ideas so when planning a a vibrant colorful Mexican fiesta I knew I would incorporate some traditional elements but spice it up by adding sequins which is a huge trend in 2014. The setting is set to resemble a chic but festive Mexican vibe. We combined traditional baked make deserts with modern inspired cake pops and macaroons. Traditional Mexican vases known as jarritos were used used for a more traditional look.

The flowers were a mix of bright colors which add a touch of rustic feel we wanted the shoot to be inspired by the style, culture, and colors of Mexico. I knew I wanted to include traditional elements such as papel picado, maracas, mexican desserts. I also wanted to include paper flowers to create the perfect fiesta..

We were thrilled to have gorgeous photography done by Angie Capri. This wedding vow inspiration is the perfect mixture between a Mexican fiesta, beautiful surroundings, lots of bright colors, flowers, and love. Many Thanks to my incredible vendors.” – Jeanette of Candy Crush Shop

Rustic Elegant Lake Tahoe Wedding Photographer | Edgewood Golf Course, Lake Tahoe, Nevada | Interview + Tips – Part 2

Continued from Part 1, click here.

What were your favorite moments of the day?

Do I have to pick just one LOL?

  • Definitely the first look. The amount of excitement building up for that one moment was incredible! Seeing Dave for the first time in a tux was also a really special treat.
  • The next runner up would be all of the speeches, especially the one given by the best man, when he started talking about Top Gun and had the theme song start to play – it was hilarious! He brought it up because him and Dave always watched the movie and quoted it back and forth. Then I showed up at his Halloween party dressed as Maverick and he knew at that moment, I was a “keeper!”
  • Next it would be Dave’s garter toss…. LOL epic…
  • And then, our first dance!

What were your wedding day song choices?

  • Bridal Party Entrance: “All of Me” by John Legend and Lindsey Stirling on violin
  • Bride Entrance: “Just The Way You Are” acoustic version by Boyce Avenue
  • Bridal Party Exit: “Happy” by Pharrell Williams
  • First Dance: “Is This Love?” by Bob Marley

What are your thoughts, suggestions and tips for couples planning their weddings?

  • Choose your venue first, because it will inspire other decisions like color pallets, flowers, and table settings.
  • Include your future husband in decisions and get his opinion!
  • Hire vendors that you are comfortable with personality-wise.
  • If you can, hire a coordinator. Having Melissa took so much stress off the year of planning, and especially off the big day! It allowed us to relax and enjoy all the work we had put into the day, when it finally arrived.
  • Take time to absorb what is going on around you. I woke up at 6am, before I knew it, the day was over. Stop every so often, take in your surroundings and the smiling faces. They are here for you, to celebrate your special day!
  • And most important, hire a GREAT photographer! Even if you have a limited budget, it’s good to spend some extra dough on hiring a photographer, who you are comfortable with, who fits your personalities, and delivers incredible photos that will capture your day and make it last forever! You will be so happy you did.
  • Other advice, don’t stress… you are supposed to be happy and smiling (maybe some happy tears), but don’t let the immensity of the day get to you. Even if little things go wrong, no one but you will notice it, so don’t stress. I knocked over one of the lanterns on the isle when I was walking down, it made a huge noise, and all I could do was laugh, because if that was the worst thing to happen, it was all good. What matters is that you are marrying the love of your life, in front of your friends and family, and as long as that happens, nothing else matters. Plus, the stuff that can and may go wrong, usually end up being great funny stories or makes for some really awesome pictures ;)

Interview continues below the gallery…

What did you love most about collaborating with Angie Capri as your wedding photographer?

“If I could give Angie more than 5 stars (on Yelp), I would! Not only am I in love with her talent, I am in love her personality even more! We choose Angie to photograph our wedding, and in the time from our initial wedding consultation through today, she has become more than a photographer to us, she has become a dear friend. We originally choose Angie because of her bubbly personality, knowing she would be a great fit for our fun and rambunctious crowd at the wedding!

Although we originally hired Angie to photograph our wedding, I also decided to do a secret boudoir shoot, giving my new husband a sexy and classy boudoir album as his wedding gift the night before our wedding day. What I didn’t realize, is how fun the experience would be for me personally as well! Angie’s level of professionalism and artistic view made it so much fun! We did a vintage 1940’s pin-up theme, and she walked me through each step making me feel more comfortable and beautiful as the day went on! My husband was so surprised and shocked that I did this shoot once it was finally revealed ha!

Then, Angie photographed our engagement session as well, which was in theme with the boudoir shoot, a colorful vintage inspired picnic! It was so hilarious because at this point, my husband only thought that I had met Angie at our original wedding consultation. So Angie and I had to tone down some of our excitement and familiarity with each other, since we had become BFF’s since the secret boudoir shoot LOL. And once again, Angie delivered with flying colors on these engagement photos!

Then our wedding day came, and at that point both my husband and I were so comfortable in front of Angie’s camera, the photographs from that day came out so natural and were so special. Angie drew inspiration from the rustic scenery surrounding our venue.

Angie is adorable and was loved by EVERYONE at our wedding. Her artistic ability is unbelievable. Her passion is unmatched. Her professionalism is spot on, she also knows how to have a good time ;)

When we were looking to hire a photographer, our main requests were being good at natural light photos, that our photographer was young and fresh in the industry, and we wanted someone who would express their professional opinion and be truthful in regards to our ideas. Angie listened to us and gave her advise and guidance on everything we needed and she delivered FANTASTIC results!

After our wedding, it was a blast collaborating with Angie and designing our wedding and engagement albums, as well as wall portrait collections for our own home and in my parents’ home. She also came to our houses herself for our fine art canvas consultations, which were sooooo incredibly helpful in choosing the photos we wanted on our walls. Then she even came back with her significant other Jeff, to install and hang them all, making sure they looked absolutely gorgeous and were ready to be enjoyed forever!!

If you are looking for a photographer, check Angie out! You seriously won’t be disappointed. Angie delivered a great experience and photos we will cherish for a lifetime. I am also lucky to say I will cherish Angie as a friend for a lifetime as well!” – Rachel

Rustic Elegant Lake Tahoe Wedding Photographer | Edgewood Golf Course, Lake Tahoe, Nevada | Interview + Tips – Part 1

How did you and Dave meet?

Through my mom. Dave was my mom and dad’s personal trainer. My mom and I went to lunch one day, she asked me if I wanted to meet Dave to sign up for sessions. I didn’t really think I needed a personal trainer, but figured I’d meet him anyway. I ended up signing up for sessions for two reasons: #1  –  He seemed to know what he was doing and was so passionate about it and #2 – He was hot :)

About the 3rd session, Dave was stretching me on a stretch table, and asked me if I wanted to go to his co-worker’s 30th birthday party, which was a black tie event. I had nothing to wear but agreed to go and asked him how long I had to get ready. Dave said he would pick me up in 3 hours! I rushed home, dug through my closet, found something to wear. From that first date, we have honestly been inseparable – we had an instant connection!

Fast forward to the wedding day…

How did you choose your wedding location and venue?

We choose Lake Tahoe for the incredible scenery. We wanted a “destination” wedding, but we didn’t want the destination to be to be too far away from the Bay Area. We got married in Lake Tahoe, Nevada at The Edgewood Golf Course.

The Edgewood sits right on the water. The golf course is so green and also drops back into this beautiful pine forest. The architecture of the building itself is amazing – classic Lake Tahoe cabin feel with huge geographic windows! The patio overlooks the lake and golf course. It is on the southeast side of the lake, so the sun sets across the water, it made for an incredible sunset on our wedding day! Their food is amazing too – we served table side and offered filet minion, pistachio stuffed chicken breasts, and a vegetable wellington. We served a full, open bar too :)

Interview continues below the gallery…

Tell us about your style and wedding design inspiration:

The style of our wedding can be described as rustic, classy, simple and elegant.

Our color palette was navy blue and burnt orange or persimmon. We choose the navy blue to represent the water, the persimmon was inspired by the inside of the venue. It had beautiful vaulted ceilings with triangular floor-to-ceiling windows. The wooden beams were already up lit with gorgeous golden lighting.

Melissa our wedding coordinator, painted our wine bottles navy blue for the centerpieces. She used an oven to remove the bottle’s labels, then painted them.

My flowers were all different species of orchids and calla lilies. I grow orchids as a hobby, so it was only natural to have them as my bouquet, and throughout the arrangements! I choose lilies because my first horse was named Lily, (riding was a huge part of my childhood and into my college years), plus it seemed like the perfect flower to offset and compliment the orchids.

Why did you choose to do a first look and would you recommend it to other couples?

Yes. Ms. Angie Capri hunted and found a beautiful cabin just down the road from the hotel where we were getting ready. She had Dave standing on one side and had me walk up on the other side. We met at the corner of the cabin, our hands touched, then we got to see each other for the first time, and be in our own little world!

I highly recommend doing a first look! I left it up to Dave to decide, and I’m so glad we did one! It took a lot of pressure off of the “big moment” of walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time then. It was also one of the only moments of the day that we had to spend together, before the rest of the festivities began! It also made for incredible photos that really captured our honest emotions as we saw each other, and only each other. Angie really captured our personalities, our love for each other, and excitement in that moment!

“My journey of finding the perfect 1 year wedding anniversary gift for my husband began with a simple Yelp search for a “classy boudoir photographer”which brought me straight to Angie Capri Photography! There are not enough positive things I can say about the entire process from start to finish. Angie squeezed me into her busy schedule and immediately made me feel so comfortable and excited because her passion for photography was undeniable! We discussed all the details and she gave me awesome advice on what to expect for the shoot. I’ll admit, I was a bit nervous, but Angie is so fun and so natural that the entire shoot felt like I was hanging out with a good friend and being silly! I am beyond happy with how everything turned out, especially judging from my husband’s reaction upon opening his gifts! This was the perfect anniversary gift and I would never have been able to accomplish this top secret mission with the amazing work of Angie Capri Photography!” -Jennifer

Beautiful, Strong and Feminine | Bay Area Lifestyle Photographer for Badass Women | Mills College, Oakland, CA

“I am an attorney and a feminist; so finding the right photographer for my professional head shots was a tricky proposition.

Worth every penny; I will definitely be back for a boudoir session!” -Apple

East Bay Elopement Photographer | Festive Vibrant Fun | Borges Ranch, Walnut Creek

Leslie and Jessie’s beautiful and sweet styled elopement was held at Borges Ranch in Walnut Creek – a gorgeous rustic ranch setting, already filled with vibrant colors and historic artifacts. We wanted to create a colorful fiesta vibe, inspired by the couples’ heritage, adding lots of color to represent a true Mexican fiesta on Cinco de Mayo! We knew confetti, sequin, and bright colors were a must, incorporating lots of fuchsia, gold, orange, yellow and purple hues to go with the overall fiesta theme. – Candy Crush Shop

Intimate Island Style Wedding Photographer | Waikoloa Beach Marriott Big Island Hawaii

“Being a wedding coordinator, I found it really hard to plan my OWN wedding, including hiring our own vendors. First of all, how do we choose? I know so many vendors and styles, how do I pick just one?! We live in California, but we always knew our wedding would take place in Hawaii. As we researched the perfect photographer, we felt like a lot of the photographers located in Hawaii were just ok! And we LOVED Angie’s personality and style so much that we decided it was very WORTH IT for us to fly her out to document our destination wedding!

Before our wedding we also enjoyed an engagement session in Lake Tahoe and I surprised my fiancé with a bridal boudoir photoshoot we shot in Half Moon Bay, California. You want to capture all the special events surrounding the wedding, the adventure, and telling your complete love story so I highly recommend experiencing both!

The entire bridal boudoir experience is a very personal one AND it is a HUGE confidence booster ladies! I think that it is so special for a husband to have something like this and especially 25 years down the road you can look at it and say OMG….what a hottie!!! Lol Angie is really good at making you feel comfortable, choosing really cool locations, and personalizing all of her boudoir sessions for every woman. I am the worst at surprises and he knew that I was up to something… He was so excited to see the final album that we presented to him the night before the wedding.. he was speechless! … He was shocked!! He is so proud of the book, and to call me his wife. Only thanks to Angie helping me be sexy in my skin!

A nice bonus is that Angie has the fastest turn around out of any photographer that I have ever worked with! THE FASTEST!!! And the reason I realized that it is soooo fast is because she is soooo excited to share the results with each couple, just as excited as her clients are to see their photos!

We are even more excited to see the final images because they always look WAY better than the original locations even looked in REAL life, they are true pieces of art! She sees something different than is obvious to everyone else. And when she shares them it’s quite a production, we get to go to her cute studio and hang out, laugh, cry and hug about all of the amazingness!! We even got to be in a behind the scenes video that was a ton of fun!

Besides being her client, we are also colleagues and Angie is so amazing to work with at weddings too! Since I’m wedding coordinator I have had the opportunity to work with a lot of photographers and I would say that I spend just as much time with the photographers as I do with the couple on the wedding day. Unfortunately, in our industry there are some vendors that are not so friendly….they may be amazing at their job but having the entire package is very important for me. In ALL of our time together, Angie and I always have so many laughs and a ton of fun!

Angie has truly fit perfectly into our world and our family. We have grown so close, and I am excited to get to work with her further. We really liked being able to build a relationship with Angie prior to our wedding, during our engagement session and my boudoir photoshoot. We really got to know Angie personally and her style throughout the process. We are so grateful to now call her our friend!!” – Melissa & CJ

Classy San Francisco Bay Area Vintage Boudoir Photography | Interview + Tips + Behind The Scenes + The Reveal

Why did you choose to do a bridal boudoir shoot?

“I choose to do a boudoir shoot because I honestly didn’t know what to get my husband as a wedding gift. I wanted something that he would cherish for the rest of our lives BUT not have it be a “physical” item that would eventually make its way into a box in the attic.

We had met and hired Angie for our wedding and instantly became best buds. Since her specialty was boudoir, she asked me if I was interested… I had never even really given it much thought before since I usually consider myself to be very reserved in that arena. So when I thought of “boudoir,” I thought of some really scandalous stuff, nudity, and being exposed in a really creepy way…. So we talked about it and I looked over her work and realized that this was NOT Angie’s style of boudoir – AT ALL!!

THEN it clicked – this would be an AWESOME wedding gift for my husband! It was perfect – he would never expect me – of all people – to do something like this! It was a gift that he would love and cherish and… not end up in the attic. (You can see our wedding photos here.)

It was also a great opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and take ownership of my own self-image and feel confident and beautiful – which is an important thing to do before your wedding day or at ANY stage of your life!

What did you love most about your classy boudoir shoot?

Everything…. Our 1940’s pin-up theme, getting my hair and makeup professionally done by Brianne of The Makeup Movement, and having the shoot also captured on video by Christian of Different Cloud Imagery…

What I loved MOST was feeling beautiful in my own skin. Of course, I was nervous at first, but Angie made it so much fun, she helped me relax and feel more comfortable. Her funny giggles and the way she goes about making you smile – honestly, she really captured my natural expressions! It became not only a gift to my husband but a gift to myself – which was confidence.

What are your favorite, most meaningful details?

Since we had a classy (not-too-exposed) pin-up theme, I thought it would be really fun to shoot it at my Aunt’s house in Danville, CA. The house sits on a gorgeous property with a great backyard, a barn, and deck with wonderful views. My aunt has very good taste and designed the house (a complete remodel). It is immaculate inside. It has a modern-antique feel. Soft yellow and green colors with dark red accent walls…

But what was REALLY special was the antique bathtub she has in the master bathroom – I thought it would be perfect to tie into our fabulous theme! Angie also brought a variety of beautiful vintage wardrobe and lingerie, vintage suitcases, hats and props like an antique feather – which led to some fun “mysterious” shots!

What are your best tips for women considering their own classy boudoir shoots?

Boudoir can be whatever you want it to be. You don’t need to be a Victoria’s Secret model to do this. Own your beauty and feel beautiful before your wedding day too! Do what makes you feel comfortable, wear what makes you feel comfortable, and do it because every woman is beautiful and deserves to feel that way. I was never topless and was pretty much covered up and I still felt sexy and looked sexy. Every time I look at those pictures, I am reminded of how confident I felt that day and how beautiful I am in my own unique way. Don’t be afraid to show this to your husband, and maybe even to the world! You will surprise yourself. It’s fun and my husband couldn’t have been happier with the result. He was blown away! And that, for me, what the icing on the cake for the overall experience was just amazing.” – Rachel

East Bay Rustic Natural Light Engagement Photographer | Tilden Park, Berkeley CA

Yijing and Neil took their engagement photos with me before they got married in China, so she decided to wear her wedding dress to guarantee great photos ahead of time! These photos were also Neil’s first introduction to Yijing’s family back home so they’d all get a glimpse of him before the big day. Two of the sweetest souls… I loved working with you two, thank you for such a wonderful review!! xo

“Angie is the most amazing photographer we’ve worked with – my fiance and I hired Angie for our engagement session and we loved the final portraits so much. She is so prompt, personable, talented, reliable AND genuinely a very nice person.

We enjoyed the whole process of working with her – from the consultation, to the preparation, to the photo shoot and the photo reveal at her studio. She responds to our emails and questions very quickly and is very prepared – she seems to think about just about everything way ahead of time. She is professional and gives great advice on the best locations, clothing, accessories and even her preferred hair and makeup artists too (mine was done by Annie of The Makeup Movement) – you can be assured that she will make sure everything goes well on the day of the photo shoot.

She knows the best times of the day to take gorgeous outdoor photos to achieve that golden light we love so much – we shot indoors first at The Claremont Hotel in Berkeley, CA then outdoors at Tilden Park in Oakland, CA – and the timing worked out just perfectly! Angie shoots from the best angles, she captures so many great in-between moments and makes the best locations look even better! Her unique photography style is natural, sunny, joyful and happy!!

My finance doesn’t take pictures often but Angie was so charming and sweet that it helped both of us relax and made us feel very natural and comfortable in front of the camera. We were having so much fun that the time was flying by and we didn’t notice that several hours had passed. I would definitely work with Angie again in the future and I highly recommend Angie to anyone who needs a professional photographer.

Thank you very much Angie for giving us great photos that were way beyond our expectations!!” – Yijing and Neil

Sam, tell us more about the inspiration behind your surprise wedding proposal, how you choose the perfect location and how you kept the whole thing a secret from Daphne:

The location of the proposal was the most important part of the day.  I wanted to take both of us back to the Bay Area, and specifically to Berkeley, where we first met.  We also both love nature so I knew that a proposal on a balcony overlooking beautiful nature and views of the East Bay and San Francisco was going to be perfect.

An interesting part of our story was that Daphne thought that I had been in Berkeley for a few nights for a work-related event, when in reality I flew into Berkeley first thing in the morning on the morning of the proposal and I was setting up and putting finishing touches on everything until the last moment.  The rush of the day was great!

Sam, what is your advice and tips for those planning their own unique and meaningful wedding proposal?

The best advice I can give to someone else planning is (1) really consider the type of public/private setting you and your partner would like to be in at that special moment, and (2) plan, plan, plan.  I cannot say enough great things about each of the vendors that I worked (flowers, photo, hotel), but it all took time, planning, and communication to get it all just right the way I wanted.

Finally, take a few moments before the “big moment,” appreciate the significance of what you are about to do and take it all in – it really is a beautiful experience and you should take a moment to make sure you are fully present before you pop the question.

Daphne, explain what was going through your mind as the most romantic surprise wedding proposal began unraveling when you arrived:

It was the most magical day. I flew in from LA early in the morning thinking I was going to some boring law event with Sam only to find a beautiful note at the door to meet him on the patio! I got so nervous I couldn’t even open the door! My heart was racing and I quickly got dressed to meet my Sam.

I was taken aback by the music that was playing which was all our favorite songs, the pictures of the last 7 years that he had printed and put all around the room and the flower arrangements that included all my favorite flowers. Everything about the proposal was perfect. It was a moment that continues to bring a smile on my face when I think back.

We spent the whole weekend in the bay area, just the two of us, taking it ALL in… Then Sunday night we met with our family back in LA for a toast. Seeing the happiness in his smile and eyes made me feel so excited to live the rest of my life with him.

You want to capture all the special events surrounding the wedding, the adventure, and telling your complete love story so I highly recommend experiencing both!

We began my bridal boudoir photoshoot at Oceano Hotel & Spa where we captured those very sexy bedroom shots. Then we discovered the most gorgeous beaches with golden-red sea cliffs just down the road and shot right as the sun was setting over the horizon!! We couldn’t get enough of the vintage black and white striped shorts that complimented our black and white striped wide-brimmed hat! It was absolutely freezing at the beach, but I was able to pull off some seductive expressions over there too (yay!). (continues below gallery…)

Creative East Bay Area Personal Branding and Professional Headshot Photographer, Oakland CA

“From the first time I worked with Angie Capri, I found her to be a very positive, energetic, funny, and overall very enjoyable person – to not only work with, but to also be around. She is always in the best of spirits, even when an obstacle comes her way, she keeps her cool, and soldiers on.

The first time (of many) I worked with her, was on a fashion shoot that I was filming to make a behind the scenes video for. One of the fears I had, was that I was going to be the only guy at that shoot, worried that it would be awkward, but Angie made everyone feel comfortable, by introducing me to everyone else at the shoot, and reminding me that I was a part of the team! The end result was a very fun shoot, and one of the best times that I have had as a videographer to date!

The second time I worked with her was when she did my professional headshots and personal branding shoot (as seen here!). When it comes to getting my picture taken, I get VERY self conscious, but Angie and her awesome upbeat personality made it easy, creative, and just all around an amazing experience.

I can not say enough good things about Angie, you owe it to yourself to hire her as your photographer. She is simply amazing. (If I could giver her 10 stars on Yelp, I would). So what are you waiting for? Give her a call!” – Christian Hernandez, Different Cloud Imagery

Adventurous Creative Fun | Bay Area Personal Branding Photographer | Mare Island, Vallejo, CA

Designing this eclectic bohemian bridal shower/personal branding session for women-focused businesses (apparel, accessories, retreats, travel, yoga studios, etc), at the historic military shipyard, Mare Island in Vallejo, CA, was crazy fun, a wee bit dangerous, and very adventurous!!

The decaying urban location and backgrounds, combined with such an eclectic bohemian attitude and diverse group of gals, led to something completely unique and creative! The energy and theme of the day truly does the phrase, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” justice, don’t you agree? :D

“If you’re looking for a photographer who’s creative, fun, spontaneous, with a light-hearted personality – Angie is the lady for the job! The girls and I had such a great time at our photoshoot. It felt like a party! The photos also came out fantastic!” – Jessica

“Angie Capri is my favorite photographer and I’m excited to tell the world why EVERYONE should hire her too!

My friends and I have been photographed by other photographers in the past and none of us were ever thrilled about the photos they took of us. Quite frankly, we were always leery of photographers because they never quite did us justice, nor did they capture the energy and excitement of the events we were at. They even posted photos online that I felt were not very flattering (and even embarrassing!). Sadly, I know a lot of ladies who prefer not to have their photo taken because of negative experiences just like these. It’s totally depressing!

On the flip side, over the last few years my friends and I have been photographed by Angie at multiple events, during a variety of photography sessions at different locations across the Bay Area – I cannot tell you how much fun and how easy Angie makes it to have your picture taken. The girls and I have so much fun during our shoots together, we get to bond, play dress up and relax all at the same time.

I really appreciate Angie’s style because it’s spontaneous, non-traditional and uniquely creative. She has a very specific “filter,” so she’ll only share the best images with you and guide you through the entire photoshoot to achieve the most flattering and authentic poses and expressions. She is extremely professional, reliable and trustworthy.

I know YOU will fall in love with her, her infectious energy and enthusiasm as soon as you meet her, just like all of we have!! YOU ROCK ANGIE!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!” – Kimeiko

Tri-Valley Special Event Photographer – Flight to Freedom Part 1: Event Highlights

One of the coolest Bay Area networking events I have had the privilege to photograph, hosted at Attitude Aviation in Livermore, CA. A summit created for entrepreneurs, investors and philanthropists. Flight To Freedom 3.0 is right around the corner (next week actually) so visit their website to learn more and get yourself registered, I just might see you there!

“Flight to Freedom is designed to enhance collaboration between vibrant entrepreneurial communities in the United States and other groups from around the world. We believe that the success of a region depends upon open communication between academics, entrepreneurs, government officials, financiers & other specialists. Our goal is to propel entrepreneurship in an efficient manner by pre-planning private meetings & group introductions within the general F2F networking format. The “pay it forward” spirit at our events provides the foundation for lasting relationships where friends do business with friends.

You should come to F2F3 to meet some of the most successful local people from the Bay Area and beyond. The rest will be flying in from dozens of states and several foreign countries.” – flight2freedom.com

Check out part two: Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit & Awards Highlights

“Many of the attendees are looking for new companies that seek expansion capital. Others are searching out new technologies that might enable their firms to grow. Many people have benefited from the F2F events because they are able to meet Centers of Influence (COIs) from other economic regions. We’ve actually been told many times that a connection from an F2F event enabled a business owner to seamlessly expand their foreign market operations into the MENA, Brazil or Japan. These connections are priceless for a business. The net – net is a massive victory for those who want to see their enterprises thrive.

The F2F events are well known for having almost zero consistent themes. Initially we showcased athletic companies and fitness. The next event evolved into an amalgamation of clean tech, smart TVs, entertainment and social commerce. The last event included social media, biotech, telecom, luxury goods and SEO. By combining individuals that are NOT from the same industry, we noticed that attendees were much more eager to help one another. This diversity of attendees is our biggest strength because no one feels like they are sharing secrets with competitors. On the contrary, they open up their contacts and get the work started right away. It also helps when all the speakers are leaders in their respective fields.” – flight2freedom.com

Tri-Valley Special Event Photographer – Flight to Freedom Part 2: Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit & Awards Highlights

Part one of the wonderful Flight to Freedom event was inspiring in and of itself, but part two holds a special place in my heart – the Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit and Awards hosted at The Purple Orchid Inn Resort and Spa, in Livermore, CA where I got to mix and mingle with some of the most inspiring women entrepreneurs and leaders from around the Bay Area and from around the world!

“The 2nd Annual Flight to Freedom Summit organized by Blossom Ventures, is the premiere Bay Area business networking event for leading entrepreneurs, investors and philanthropists. The exclusive invitation only event is “designed to showcase the Bay Area’s vibrant entrepreneurial community.”

Recognizing the contribution and vast potential impact of women in the entrepreneurship space, this year Blossom Ventures added the Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit & Awards (WESA) to the lineup, which takes place in the evening and features a panel discussion by several of this year’s winners about the state of entrepreneurship and opportunities for women.

This year’s WESA kickoff will feature Michelle Patterson, founder of the California Women’s Conference, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Adryenn Ashley. “EnterTrainer, Success Solutionist” Dean Hankey will MC.” -flight2freedom.com

How to Plan the Perfect Surprise Wedding Proposal | Claremont Hotel, Berkeley, CA

Boy oh boy, I sure love being sneaky… These two love birds are already celebrating their 1 year wedding anniversary, I can’t believe it!! Happy anniversary you two, I loved being a part of your story and thank you for such a wonderful review ❤❤❤

“Angie was absolutely wonderful! I was planning a very special wedding proposal for my fiancee at The Claremont Hotel in Berkeley, CA and Angie was referred to me by the Claremont’s concierge service. They told me that Angie would be just the right person, and boy were they right! From the start Angie’s burst of positive energy combined with her diligent attention to small details helped make for a perfect proposal. She arrived early to help me decorate the proposal site. She also walked through the entire proposal with me to make sure all of the bases were covered – a true professional!

After the suspenseful proposal, my fiance and I had a great time with Angie taking pictures of us in different parts of the beautiful Claremont Hotel! The overall experience was truly magical and Angie did an amazing job capturing the countless special moments.

I would definitely recommend Angie to family and friends. She is very professional and she takes the time to get to know her clients on a more personal level. She is also very easy-going and flexible, which is always a great plus! Finally, and most importantly, Angie’s loving personality helped me and my fiancee feel comfortable to be “us” both in front of Angie and in front of the camera – this in turn helped Angie capture our genuine happiness and excitement in the moment. Thanks Angie!” – Sam and Daphne

Read our interview with Sam (below gallery) to find out his tips on choosing the perfect location, how to plan the most meaningful surprise wedding proposal and hear what was going through Daphne’s mind as the whole thing was unfolding before her eyes…

Special Event Photographer | San Francisco Gay Pride Parade

In honor of the 2015 San Francisco Gay Pride Parade and to show our support of the LGBT community, we’re sharing our favorite highlights from the previous two years we had the opportunity to photograph Safeway Corporation’s participation in the parade. Plus, here’s an awesome testimonial from Chris who invited us to document this exciting milestone for Safeway!

“We were referred to Angie Capri and right away, we were impressed by her unique and energetic images, and also by her contributions within the community. We quickly knew she was the right photojournalist for our needs. We hired Angie to photograph Safeway Corporation’s first and second attendance at the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade. Angie was very professional and energetic, she encouraged members of our group to show their excitement, and she captured all of it successfully! She was able to expedite her processing, and provided us with the final images within a couple days, enabling us to use them in our press releases immediately following the event. The pictures are BEAUTIFUL! …Looks like GALA has finally found an exclusive photographer for our events! Thanks!” – Chris

Here’s some history on how the tradition of the gay pride parade began in San Francisco, “In the early hours of the morning of June 28, 1969, a police raid on the Stonewall Inn in New York’s Greenwich Village sparked the Stonewall riots, one of the first well-known instances of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rebellion against government-sponsored oppression of LGBT people. One year later, on the one-year anniversary of Stonewall on June 28, 1970, the first Pride marches were held in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. 2015 marks the 45th anniversary of the San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade — forty-five years of fighting for LGBT visibility, dignity, and equality.” –SF Pride

“My fiance and I collaborated with Angie Capri for our styled engagement session at Flying Cloud Farm in Petaluma, California. Angie stands out to us because she is very sweet and professional. My fiance and I also loved her high energy and her sense of creativity. Angie’s style is very organic and free flowing, which made being photographed by her a lot of fun and so easy! She made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and really brought out our natural personalities and playfulness with each other. Her final photographs really captured our connection, and Angie’s use of the natural lighting was magical! Free Spirited San Francisco Lifestyle Photographer | Golden Gate Park

“Angie is simply amazing. I went to Angie to get portraits done just because. Angie and I chose to go to Ocean Beach in San Francisco, but mother nature had other plans (as in 20 MPH winds!!). Angie had arrived about 30 minutes before I got there and when I arrived, she and I agreed it wouldn’t be a good idea to shoot at the beach. By that point, she had already scouted a few new potential locations right across the street in Golden Gate Park. We drove over, she went off hunting for the perfect spot, and she did indeed find us an amazing and magical location!

I was incredibly nervous about getting portraits done. Angie made me feel great though. She made me laugh a lot! We ended up shooting for a couple hours but it honestly felt like 30 minutes. I had a ton of fun doing the photo shoot with her.

I would recommend Angie to anyone who wants their portraits taken. She is incredible. She has a gift, not just with her camera but with people. I have never felt more confident.” – Cyan

Surprise Marriage Proposal | Huntington Park, San Francisco, CA

Gosh this day was an epic one!! So much thought and preparation (and lots of sneaking around too!!) preparing for this impressive wedding proposal in San Francisco!

“Having a photographer for our engagement was a complete surprise to me. I had no idea until Angie popped out and said, “Hi! I’m the photographer.” And am I ever glad because Angie is amazing! She is super easy going and makes people feel at ease. She always has a smile on her face and a great vision in her mind as to what would make a great picture. And her pictures that she took…. BEAUTIFUL! They turned out better than I could have hoped for.

I think the most important thing for me was, with Angie, she just has the greatest personality and working with her is a complete joy. This was a big moment in my life and you want to have someone there that you enjoy being around. Angie was just that person. Instantly, I felt that I had known her for years and she was just another great friend of ours. She was super accommodating for us and was totally on board for my fiancee’s crazy schemes. We cannot wait to work with Angie again as we hire her to be the photographer at our wedding! :) ” -Christine

Testimonials continue below gallery…

“I was referred to Angie by my fiancee’s friend when I was making plans to propose and throw a surprise engagement party. The proposal was going to be special for the two of us, which meant it involved cable cars, garages, and a whoopee cushion. Angie was easy to work with as I explained the crazy plans I had, and she was a source of cool and calm as I was starting to get scatter brained about everything coming together – but I knew she was on top of her part. She was on time, and communicative, and got some great shots of the surprise moment. The photos we took after with her were easy and felt natural which I really liked. We’re hoping that the timing will work out that we can call on her again for our wedding!” -Will

“LOVE this photographer! Angie captured my friends proposal in a park near where they first met in San Francisco and did an amazing job! Not only was she successful in doing so without my friend knowing she was there (she caught her real reaction, nothing was staged) but she made the couple feel very comfortable after she greeted them and told them what she was doing. My friends enjoyed her so much that they have also hired her for their wedding photographer as well. Angie is the sweetest girl and is very easy to get along with. She even has a degree in psychology which isn’t surprising because she is great with people. Her photos are artistic and candid. They also usually tell a story and if you want you have the option of purchasing your own paperback book with your photos printed on each page. The books are high quality and absolutely beautiful! They come in fabric carrying cases and close with a flap and bow. I would definitely recommend her to anyone wanting professional pictures taken. She has a gift for catching everyone’s true beauty. :) ” – Lauren
