I began daydreaming about our latest photoshoot over a year ago and began planning and coordination about 4 months ago. The main thread running throughout the story I wanted to tell was about breaking tradition, finding your true love, following your heart, being truly happy and expressing all of these truths that everyone deserves to experience freely. I immediately searched for a same sex female couple who was open and willing to be a part of this very special project, and I was so excited when I was introduced to Kylie & Andy by a colleague.
Fast forward…. Just one week before the shoot Andy asked if I would mind if she actually proposed to Kylie during the photoshoot and without hesitation I said, “hell no I wouldn’t mind!! Holy moly I secretly wished for something like this!” We were so excited and emotional, of course neither of us got much sleep that night. To top THAT off, she had no idea our florist (who was already collaborating on our project) is also an officiant!!
I mean could the stars align any more perfectly? I think not!!
The big day… We checked everything off the photoshoot list first saving the best part for last to allow Kylie and Andy to enjoy and focus on their special moment without getting back into photoshoot mode. Just when Kylie thought she was done for the day I shouted out code phrase to the team, “Oh no, we forgot to take pictures with our officiant!!”
Everyone scurried with their secret intentions. Andy had someone play their favorite song, Andy approached Kylie, they danced as she whispered to Kylie, she got down on one knee and asked. Kylie said yes!! They got married right on the spot. It was so emotional. We were all crying. I’m sure it’s all still sinking in for the girls (since it only happened 4 days ago!!). None of us will ever forget this amazing day!
The obvious connection and love Kylie and Andy feel for one another is breathtaking, they are most definitely the perfect pair to help express the underlying theme of this entire project as it started and finished it with the biggest bang none of us could have imagined or anticipated. They are so incredibly happy to have found one another and Andy told me, “we have never been more sure of anything in their lives”.
Congratulations you two bad-ass chicks!! It has been an honor for us all to be a part of your love story and wedding day!
