Read part one: The Love Story and the Photoshoot
Finding a real couple and what happened next:
Once I knew we were creating a same sex themed wedding, I immediately began searching for all of the perfect contributors. Once I got everyone on board, next I had to find the perfect same sex female couple who was open and willing to be a part of this very special project, and who of course would trust me and my vision. It definitely needed to be a real couple because I wanted their “first kiss” to be a real one in this styled shoot. It proved to be a bit more challenging than originally anticipated and I was super excited when I was introduced to Kylie & Andrea by a colleague.
Fast forward…. Just one week before the shoot Andrea asked if I would mind if she actually proposed to Kylie during the photoshoot and without hesitation I said, “hell no I wouldn’t mind!! I secretly wished for something like this!” We were so excited and emotional, of course neither of us got much sleep that night. To top THAT off, she had no idea our florist (who was already collaborating on our project) is also an officiant!! I mean could the stars alight any perfectly? I think not!!
The big day:As usual I stalk the weather forecast and since it’s usually wrong it’s seldom that I decide to reschedule. This photoshoot especially had so many moving parts and a huge team, it had already been rescheduled once before so it was going to happen no matter what, rain or shine. Despite the 90% chance of rain and running inside after two downpours, we shot every second we had throughout the entire day. We checked everything off the photoshoot list first, saving the best part for last to allow Kylie and Andrea to enjoy and focus on their special moment without getting back into photoshoot mode – all before sunset as well – it was crazy to say the least but you’d never know it looking through the photos and final video (whoo hoo!!) Just when Kylie thought she was done for the day I shouted out a code phrase to the team which happened randomly but very perfectly, “Oh no, we forgot to take pictures with our officiant!!”
Everyone scurried with their secret intentions. Andrea had someone play their favorite song, she approached Kylie, they danced as Andrea whispered to her, she got down on one knee and asked. Kylie said yes!! They got married right on the spot. It was so emotional. We were all crying. I’m sure it’s all still sinking in for the girls. None of us will ever forget this amazing day!
The obvious connection and love Kylie and Andrea feel for one another is breathtaking, they are most definitely the perfect pair to help express the underlying theme of this entire project as it started, and finished with the biggest bang any of us could have ever imagined or anticipated. They are so incredibly happy to have found one another and Andy told me, “we have never been more sure of anything in their lives”. In reaction to her surprise proposal and on-the-spot elopement Kylie said, “I had no clue, first and foremost. It was the best and most amazing thing I have ever experienced. It was so unexpected. It was honestly like a fairytale. The best thing I ever could have imagined happening to me.”
Congratulations Andrea & Kylie!!
